Frequently Asked Questions
There are detailed instructions on every beautiful packet of our delicious tea, but it really is soooo simple!
- Boil water and spoon desired amount of tea into an infuser.
- Steep the herb in boiling tea for 15 minutes or until it is tepid.
- Consume! You can add honey or other things to delight your tastebuds if you like.
We love our herbal tea and think they taste fantastic, but understand that everyone has different taste preferences. (We are sweeties ourselves!)
Try adding honey, sugar, lemon, lime or other citrus to flavour your tea based on what you would like. Some parents add cordial to the Mullein Tea to get their littlies to love it.
Would you start using three or four or up to seven medications at once? No, us either. With single herb tea, we use one herb that we know is effective and does its job. No ‘filler’ herbs or ‘flavour’ herbs are needed as our tea tastes great without them.
Some people cannot tolerate certain herbs and if you have a tea containing up to seven herbs, how do you know what one is working for you and which one is negatively affecting you? We believe it is best to work with one (highly effective) herb at a time.
It sure does! Herbal remedies have stood the test of time due to their efficacy. There is empirical data over hundreds of years with most well-known herbal medicines. These days, this empirical data is also backed by scientific data, in the form of research, journal articles and scientific studies on humans. The herbs that AMH produces and supplies to the people of Australia is backed by science in its efficacy and by hundreds of satisfied and repeat customers that can attest to its effectiveness.
Herbal medicine should be treated as a medicine. It is a natural product and mostly completely safe when used in this appropriate manner. Autonomy needs to be taken by an individual to ascertain if a certain herb is right for them. If you are a normal healthy adult with no health issues and not on any medicines then it is likely that many herbs will be safe for you to take. If you are a person who has certain conditions which may make it inappropriate for you to take certain medicines, then it is important that you do your own research to see if something is right for you. For example, people with low blood pressure should not use large amounts of the Hibiscus as it lowers blood pressure. People with thyroid issues need to be careful using Lemon Balm as it can affect the thyroid in high doses. Common sense and education are to be applied with the use of any herbal product, and use it only as instructed.
If you are on medicine prescribed by a doctor it is imperative to check with your specialist or medical professional to ensure that the herbal medicine is not contraindicated. You may be able to do your own research online, and we encourage this, but the final word should be from your medical professional.
Before starting any new medications, be they natural or not, you need to consult your treating health practitioner to discuss it with them. This is especially the case if you have cardiac issues or thyroid issues.
It can be very dangerous to discontinue medications without appropriate supervision from a consulting medical practitioner. Medicinal herbs can be utilised to assist with many health issues, however it is not safe to simply replace bio-medicines with medicinal herbs. It is imperative that any change of medication is done in consultation and under supervision of a treating doctor or appropriately qualified natural health practitioner.
These products are not to be used whilst pregnant or breastfeeding.
Generally herbs are not considered to be safe for children under the age of two.
If your little one is over the age of two and has no significant health issues, some medicinal herbs may be used, however please ensure that you research the product to ensure that it is right for them.
When using medicinal herbs for children, we suggest reducing the dosage based on the size of the child. The dosages on our tea packets are for an adult, so you can reduce the quantity needed for a child.
For your little one ten years of age and over a half dose would be suitable.
For a little one under ten, use a quarter of a dose.
If you are unsure if a little one has health issues, err on the side of caution and consult a doctor or naturopath and obtain professional advice.
