Meet Venetia Scott – Grower, Healer, and the Heart Behind Our Tulsi Tea

When I first started Australian Medicinal Herbs, one of my biggest hopes was to create a space where small, local, organic growers could sell their produce — a place where people working with integrity, care and a love of plants, soil and the environment could share their craft. Over the years, that dream has been tested by floods, cyclones, and all the challenges that come with working close to the land. Some of the growers I started out with have had to step away, and for a while, it felt like that part of the dream might not come to life in the way I’d imagined.
But then came Venetia.

I’m so excited to introduce you to Venetia Scott, who has recently joined us at Australian Medicinal Herbs and is now growing the most beautiful Certified Organic Tulsi I’ve ever come across. Truly — her Tulsi is vibrant, aromatic, and alive with the kind of quality you only get from someone who works from the heart.

Venetia is one of those rare people who you feel instantly connected to. She’s calm, grounded, and full of quiet strength. Her journey into farming is just as impressive as her plants. For close to a decade she worked as a lawyer in Sydney, until something shifted in her. She felt the pull that so many of us do — to live more simply, more purposefully, and more connected to the natural world. And so, she followed it.

She left the city, studied permaculture, and began the journey into growing — real, hands-on, soul-guided growing. That path led her to where she is now, running The Good Natured Garden, a certified organic market garden at The Farm in Byron Bay.
Her garden is not just productive — it’s thoughtful. Venetia’s growing practices are regenerative, slow, and intentional. She’s focused on building healthy soil, working with biodiversity, and growing strong, resilient plants. Everything is grown without chemicals and harvested by hand — you can taste and feel the care that goes into every leaf.

But it’s not just about the plants. Venetia’s farm is also a space for healing. Venetia is in the process of setting up a space at her farm where she plans to offer therapeutic horticulture programs in the near future — a venture she is deeply passionate about. Her vision is to create a safe, nurturing environment where people experiencing disability or mental health challenges can reconnect with themselves and the earth in a gentle, grounding way. That part of her dream really moved me — because it shows just how deeply she believes in the healing power of plants and place.

And if that wasn’t enough, Venetia also co-founded Wardell CORE (Community Organised Resilience Effort) after the devastating 2022 floods in the Northern Rivers. This grassroots initiative supported people through one of the hardest times imaginable — providing food, mental health support, and even turning a disused bank building into a full-blown community hub. It’s this kind of quiet, determined leadership that makes Venetia such a treasure.

And now, she’s pouring all of that care and wisdom into growing her beautiful Tulsi — one of the most revered herbs in herbal medicine. It’s known for calming the nervous system, helping the body adapt to stress, and supporting emotional wellbeing. Venetia’s Tulsi is hand-harvested, slowly dried, and completely chemical free. It’s a truly beautiful product — and it means the world to me to be able to offer it through Australian Medicinal Herbs.

When you drink Venetia’s Tulsi Tea, you’re not just tasting a delicious herbal infusion — you’re tasting the work of someone who genuinely cares, who shows up for her community, and who grows with heart.
